Objectives

The Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), launched in 2015, aims to provide training and certification to Indian youth in line with industry requirements, thereby enhancing their employability. The scheme aims to achieve a target of training 10 million people by 2022, with a total budget allocation of INR 12,000 crore. The PMKVY is implemented through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and focuses on short-term training programs that range from a few days to six months. The scheme also provides financial incentives to both the trainee and the training provider upon successful completion of the course. The PMKVY is a significant initiative towards bridging the skill gap in India and improving the country’s overall employability quotient.

Placement Guidelines

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) has established strict placement guidelines to ensure that the trained candidates are successfully placed in suitable jobs. These guidelines include partnerships with industry associations and employers, regular interactions with training providers to monitor placement outcomes, and the creation of a centralized database to track placements. Additionally, PMKVY provides financial incentives to training providers based on the number of candidates placed in employment, promoting a strong focus on placement outcomes. These measures aim to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the skills of the workforce, ultimately leading to higher employability rates for PMKVY trainees.

Target Beneficiaries

The Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is aimed at providing skill training to the youth of India, with a focus on enhancing their employability and earning potential. The program aims to train 10 million people by 2022, with a particular emphasis on marginalized sections of society such as women, minorities, and persons with disabilities. The program offers financial incentives to both the training providers and the trainees, making it an attractive option for those seeking to upskill themselves. By providing high-quality training in both traditional and emerging sectors, PMKVY aims to bridge the gap between demand and supply in the labor market and contribute to India’s overall economic development.

As Per Updated Guidelines of PMKVY 2.0 CSSM:

Under the revised guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2.0, the Certification Scheme for Plumbing and Sanitation Mechanics (CSSM) has been introduced. This certification scheme aims to provide industry-relevant training and certification to individuals seeking employment in the plumbing and sanitation sector. The program covers topics such as installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, as well as safe handling of chemicals and waste management. The certification is recognized by industry bodies and can enhance the employability of candidates in this growing sector. The PMKVY 2.0 CSSM program is aligned with National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) standards and provides financial incentives to both training providers and trainees upon successful completion of the program.
